Full course description
In Community Health Ministry 012 (CHM 012) you will explore the topic of mental health and how the Christian church provides the conditions that improve mental health. We will review some of the research on mental health and religious service attendance, and you will have opportunities to reflect on ways your church can help prevent and improve outcomes for those with mental illness. We will also introduce you to Motivational Interviewing, a way of speaking and listening as a servant. You will learn techniques that will make your conversations uplifting, validating, and motivating.
Completion time for each of the 6 modules is approximately 2-4 hours, allowing you to complete modules based on your available time. Please note you will have a maximum of one year to finish this course. Additional content and all reference materials are provided within the learning system. After taking the course and gaining a deeper understanding of concepts related to the integration of mental health into community health and outreach, you can confidently apply them in your life.
