Full course description
In Community Health Ministry 013 (CHM 013) self-study you will learn about the process of community engagement, while you gain background for the larger context of development and public health. Along the way we will discuss culturally sensitive, relationship based, strength based approaches for working with community. Learn participatory learning and action tools, asset-based community development, and health theories to ground community health ministry. Evaluation strategies will be applied to understand program effectiveness and accountability to community needs. Historical approaches to poverty alleviation will be explored to understand current conditions of development.
Completion time for each of the 6 modules is approximately 2-5 hours, allowing you to complete modules based on your available time. Please note you will have a maximum of one year to finish this course. Besides your Bible, all additional content and reference materials are provided within the learning system. After taking the course and gaining a deeper understanding of some of the concepts related to approaches for working with community, you can confidently apply them in your community. Mastery of this course content is applicable to sharing Jesus in community as well as many other interactions in life. This is the third course towards earning the Meros Center Certification in Community Health Ministry and a prerequisite for CHM--014-S1 Community Health Practicum, the final course in the certification process.
