Full course description
Community Health Ministry (CHM) -014 Community Heath Practicum focuses on the implementation of the knowledge you have gained. The final course in earning the Certification in Community Health Ministry, you will learn about the process of community engagement, while you gain background for the larger context of development and public health. You will practice interviewing skills, participatory learning and action tools, and asset based community development. As the capstone for the certification you will use the skills learned in CHM 011 Theology of Community Health, CHM 012 Mental Health Ministry, and CHM 013 Principals of Health Ministry, and and put these skills into practice.
In this course, you will select your practice community, plan and execute interactions using the tools and knowledge you have learned, and reflect on their use and impact. You will be supported throughout this course. Working with a Meros expert, you will need need to score at least 40/50 on your final submission. After finishing all modules, you will receive your certification in Community Health Ministry.
The course is initially laid out to complete a module each week, with an average of 2-5 hours required weekly or per module. The activities will require setup and planning and time devoted to working with your selected community. The videos may make reference to completing the modules weekly but feel free choose to work at your own pace based on your available time. Please note you will have a maximum of one year to finish this course.
Additional content and all reference materials are provided within the learning system. Mastery of this course content is the capstone to a unique method for sharing Jesus in community, and the final course towards earning the Meros Center Certification in Community Health Ministry.
